If it's faster to take multiple short steps, you'd move them faster, wouldn't you..? You're saying 'taking long strides' helps you move 'faster', yet, this would only true if you moved the greater distance in the same tempo. Intuitively, this seems wrong. Longer steps would take a longer time to swing through, so, if you say, faster times help us live longer, then, it follows that you should take quick short steps to get both a better workout and a faster stride and therefore a 'longer life'..? Or, are you saying the stride length can be varies by 'when' you kick off the rear ball of foot..?

Let’s keep it simple. The closer your legs are to your body, your body can use bigger muscle groups like the glutes, core, posterior muscles to run. The further away (overstriding), the higher chance to get injured due to not being able to absorb ground impact forces efficiently.

Thank you for posting this. Your seminars on foot function and exercises have helped me make so much sense of lower leg and foot posture. I have reduced knee pain when riding a skateboard day after day over hundreds of miles and allow for a crazy amount of stability. After practicing short feet for a couple years I rode (a longboard) from fairbanks AK to Alberta in Canada and I felt absolutely solid and never had any knee aches. I wish I had known this back when I was a competitive racer. In my day job I train development athletes. Your intrinsic foot exercises have helped me improve the power of my young athletes and move beyond injuries. Honestly so many knee exercises are prescribed by physios and guys like the KOT guy and they miss this part of the equation. I have combined the hip airplane exercise with short feet and it has been a game changer for stabilizing my clients knees (and my own) and of course if you learn to do it with your eyes closed it's amazing for single leg balance. I'm currently trying to fashion drills that help apply these principles through the motion of jumping so this video has come out at a wonderful time for me. I'll be ordering your book asap too. I don't know how I missed it. Thank you again Dr. Splichal, To everyone else do these exercises multiple times per week.

Congratulations! I'm Erwin, and when the weather changes, that's when my end comes..., in other words, I feel the sudden change in temperature, from cold to warm and vice versa, like fog, I can anticipate the weather forecast through intercostal neuralgic pains. I want to write to you that I had a respiratory virus when I was 20 years old, but as a small child I had "nerves in my stomach", as I explain in a simplified way that anyone can understand. I would like to ask you what you think happens when the weather changes, because only when the weather changes do I have these manifestations, mood changes, anxiety, palpitations, even from the wind blowing irregularly. Do you think it's about the autonomic nervous system, sympathetic/parasympathetic, only, or also the vagus nerve, and what exercises would you recommend?! Thank you very much. With respect and honest friendship, Erwin. 🤗

Thank you for sharing this incredibly valuable information. I was hoping you could help me with an issue I have been dealing with for the past 5 years. I believe I injured my right foot in 2019, during this time I was playing basketball competitively for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. fast forward 5 years, I am 26 and I am having symptoms of my entire right core and leg weakening like crazy and trouble breathing to the right side of my abdomen. When I try to run or exercise I feel extremely sore in my neck and back. I have noticed my right foot is a lot more arched than my left, it looks and feels as if my right abductor hallucis is tight 24/7 and walking/running does not feel as smooth and coordinated as my left foot. Moreover, when I try to stretch my right calf, i don't feel it nearly as much as my left calf. I was wondering if you could give me insight on my specific issue and what exercises you believe I should be doing. When I do the shortening exercises I can breathe much better but I am feeling my abductor hallucis tightening up again. Should I be focusing on loosening this muscle or should I continue strengthening it. Thank you in advance for the extremely helpful videos. I would greatly appreciate any sort of response. 🙏

Do you have any articles or videos about fat pad athropy, especially of the forfoot and large toe? I was diagnosed with this in January. I've was also diagnosed with mild bunions last fall for which I'm already doing toe spacers and foot exercises to manage. The docs i've seen are contributing my large pain to those conditions. I've been unble to walk long distances, let alone run, comfortably since last summer. I'm also unable to do so many other activities such as barre, yoga, calf raises, lunges, bear crawls, ect. I'm not even 50 and feel like I'm being resigned to bulky orthodics and becoming the youngest member of silver sneakers. It is seriously depressing me. Also, do you have a list or data base of EBFA certified providers/practitioners? I wasn't able to find that info on your website. Sorry if not appropriate. I would perfer to DM but YT doesn't provide that option.
